Things to eat & see in Boston

This Spring and early Summer have been filled with a lot of travel, which I love! But I’m starting to get mentally exhausted from the emptying and reorganizing of my suitcase. I’m really excited to go/be on my last trip this weekend to Seattle before I spend pretty much the whole summer in the DMV!

With that being said, I wanted to share my quick trip to Boston, MA. I had never been there before but with the help of another great CHAARG friend Evanthia, I was able to see a lot in the short time I was there.

I actually went to Boston for a work conference, so I stayed at the Sheraton Hotel connected to the Hynes Convention center in Back Bay. I know literally nothing about Boston and was able to navigate to a few popular places, so if I could do it — so can you!

1] I Shopped on Newbury Street

Newbury Street was literally one block away from where I was staying, which took me an entire day to figure out. The street was lined with cute shops and the brick was amazing (see number #2). I stopped in Lush, Anthro and TJMaxx. If I had more time, I would have stopped in one of the local bookstores or coffee shops.

2] I Admired the Buildings

Boston’s old, historical looking buildings are beautiful. Regardless of the street, I stopped to take pictures and enjoy the view basically every block.

3] I Strolled through the Public Garden and Boston Common

To be fair, my coworker navigated us to these gardens and through Boston Common. It was really beautiful!

4] I Walked next to the Charles River

This was about 5 blocks from my hotel room as well — I couldn’t tell you exactly which side I was on, but there were TONS of people walking and running along the river when I was over there. The view was amazing and honestly my phone camera doesn’t do it justice.

5] I Saw the View From the Skywalk Observatory

One of the receptions I was at took place up here, which was amazing! Typically I think you have to pay, but these views were incredible, so if you’re up for it — go for it!

Of course, there is SO MUCH history in Boston as well as great food. I passed some important landmarks, but I don’t know enough to share specifically. If you’re interested in that, I would check out this resource. There’s also a great food scene — when I was in the North End, it was clear there was a ton of Italian restaurants (including Mike’s Pastry!). I had some food here and there but didn’t take too many pictures. All in all, I think Boston is a super cute city with a lot to do — and not so big that it would be overwhelming to plan a quick weekend trip!
