Visiting Great Falls National Park

When I moved to the DMV in August of 2016, I was excited for a lot of reasons. One of the most exciting reasons? I had a new place to explore. My favorite weekends usually involve me going to a new place with my camera strapped around my neck. (Real talk: I wish I did it more often.)

One of the first weekends I was in the area, I had a friend from college visit me to do some tourist-y things. The two of us teamed up with one of my roommates from college who also lives in the area and my then-roommate from my internship to take on Great Falls on the Northern Virginia side.

This would be the first of two excursions to this park. The first in August of 2016 would result in us mostly walking around the park to see the overlooks, while the second in August of 2017 (with another previous intern from my program!) involved us actually hiking. Who knew!

Long story short: if you’re in the DMV, you can go to either the Maryland or the Virginia side of Great Falls for some great views and fairly easy activity : )

August 2016: Virginia side of Great Falls National Park (aka me wearing a blue tank top)

August 2017: Maryland side of Great Falls National Park (aka me wearing a grey tank top)
